CFP stands for CEPT Foundation Program, is a multidisciplinary program for the first year undergraduate students at CEPT University. With AI making radical moves since late 2022, the department deemed it necessary to introduce the latest (at the time) in terms of AI generation tools to understand various models which were available as well as integrating it seamlessly into their design process either through creation of unique models or playing with readily availible browser based tools.

OVERVIEW

Being a design school, meant tweaking the language of the presentation creatively to match the tone and energy of the target audience. The Gen Z children who were acquainted with smarter technology from a young age often found themselves spending hours on social media doomscrolling or sharing relatable content with their peers and loved ones.

Using this as my hook, I capitalized on using pop culture and "meme-ingful" references to trigger their minds, keep them engaged, and have a laugh while learning something new at the same time.

The material was also carefully curated based on popular or retro sci fi movies and tv shows, depicting AI in its infancy while also covering a range of what it could potentially lead to in the future.

With the hook in place, later parts of the presentation explored real world applications (at the time), especially in the field of Gen AI and its sharp rise in image and video content.

Examples covered but were not limited to Linkin Park's music videos, Rick Rolling landscapes and the ever so popular "What if this character was in a Wes Anderson movie".

Using "Harry Potter" and "Wes Anderson"'s help I broke down how any AI model breaks down data sets and prompts given by us to better inform the students on how their inputs would actually work and therefore tweak their outputs and workflows as required.

EXPLORATIONS

We further explored "LEONARDO AI", which offered in game credits upon a free subscription to generate up to 4 images using a single prompt. The base model loaded was Flux but could be swapped around with other models and LoRA's based on the expected final outcome. Later, the key details and figures translated by the prompt onto the image were highlighted to study the behavioral pattern of the AI and the weightage that each word had on the end result.
